Benrahma to West Ham could be off / Bournemouth’s Joshua King is supposedly the Hammers Priority

Fallen apart

Reports Monday evening have suggested that Said Benrahma’s proposed move to West Ham is in danger of breaking down. The Algerian winger is away on international duty and had expected to return to England to complete a move.

Brentford failed to earn promotion to the Premier League last season and many high-profile departures were expected. Forward Ollie Watkins left to join Aston Villa in a deal rising to a possible £33 million.

Goalkeeper David Raya was supposedly courted by Arsenal to replace Emi Martinez but no deal could be agreed.

Benrahma was expected to be the next through the exit doors. The reports mention the winger is very unhappy and Brentford have ‘broken promises’ with the player regarding his future.

Norwegian Focus

West Ham will now push on with trying to sign Bournemouth’s Joshua King. The Norway international has been reported to be seeking a quick return to the Premier League having been relegated with the Cherries.

The move itself is a little strange considering West Ham’s striking options. Michail Antonio and Sebastian Haller have both been on scoring form in the league and cup competitions. With Felipe Anderson’s loan move to Porto it seemed a winger would be the priority.

The domestic window does leave the Hammers in a state of restriction however. With only 4 days remaining to sort out any final deals they may seek for a swift outcome ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

West Ham face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday at 16:30.
