Benfica announce they have agreed to sell the Ruben Dias to Man City for €68m

Man City hammered

Manchester City had a decent start to 2020/21, seeing off an in-form Wolves side.

As a result, they probably felt pretty confident about getting something from their latest clash vs Leicester.

However, the Sky Blues would collapse in rather spectacular fashion vs the Foxes.

Riyad Mahrez would fire the home side into the lead inside four minutes.

Jamie Vardy would, however, then step up and convert his first of the day just before the break after he was pulled down in the City box by Kyle Walker.

The Manchester powerhouse then fell apart somewhat in the second 45, shipping another four goals, two of which were penalties.

The tie eventually drew to a close with the score at 5-2, the first time in history that Pep Guardiola has conceded five goals as a manager.

This, combine with City’s defensive issues from the previous year, does suggest they need to improve their backline somewhat.

And less than 24 hours after they were put to the sword by Leicester, news of a fresh centre-back joining Man City has all but been confirmed.

An image began to do the rounds on social media late on Sunday night which suggested that Benfica had confirmed the sale of Ruben Dias to Man City for an initial fee of €68m:

Those claims have since been backed up by the reliable Fabrizio Romano, who also claims Nicola Otamendi will be joining Benfica for €15m.
