Ben Chilwell backs Chelsea to win ‘a lot of silverware’ in coming years

Chelsea on the up

Chelsea had a slightly slow start to the campaign, perhaps due to the struggles of integrating so many new faces into their squad.

However, in recent weeks, Frank Lampard appears to have finally found the best way to utilise his new-look squad.

A switch to a 4-3-3 with N’Golo Kante holding and Mason Mount and one of Kai Havertz or Mateo Kovacic playing in the 8 roles appears to be the Blues’ best set-up.

The likes of Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva have also really impressed of late.

This has resulted in Chelsea moving up to 5th in the Premier League whilst also conceding just one goal in their last six outings across all competitions.

Chilwell backs Chelsea to shine

Such impressive form, coupled with the star names now plying their trade at Stamford Bridge, will no doubt excite the Chelsea faithful.

The Londoners haven’t been at their best for some time now, with their last league title coming back in 2017 and their recent Champions League displays pretty poor.

However, the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell should be able to play a huge role in Chelsea getting back to their scintillating best.

One man certainly of the opinion that Chelsea are on the up is Chilwell, with the full-back recently voicing the opinion that Frank Lampard’s side can will a lot of silverware over the coming years:

“But I feel like I needed a new challenge in my career. Chelsea are one of the biggest teams in Europe, and with the players that were brought in, I was eager at 23 years old to come and try help this team win trophies.

“Talking to a lot of the other boys that have come in, they are saying the same. If you look at the way we’ve been playing the last month, if we keep working hard, then over the next year, two, three, four, five years, we can win a lot of silverware.”
