As per a growing number of reports across Europe this afternoon, Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of closing a deal for Barcelona star Nelson Semedo.
Barca man incoming
The addition of a new right-sided defender has of course become a priority at Molineux over the last couple of weeks.
This comes with Wolves’ long-time star man down the right-flank, Irish international Matt Doherty, having departed the club for Premier League rivals Tottenham.
To this point, a host of potential targets have been touted in the media, though previous favourite Ainsley Maitland-Niles seemingly no longer represents a realistic option.
As such, the transfer chiefs at Molineux have been forced to turn their attentions elsewhere.
And, as outlined above, if the latest word doing the rounds online over the last couple of hours is to be believed, then Wolves appear to have identified their new no.1 right-back target.
Not only that, but a deal to take the player in question to England is said to be on the verge of completion.
This comes with a basic agreement having been found between Wolves and Barcelona, over Nelson Semedo.
Portuguese international Semedo actually played a prominent role at the Camp Nou last season, but, with Ronald Koeman now in charge, and the Blaugrana desperate to secure fresh funds to utilise on the transfer market, the 26-year-old is primed for an imminent move to the Premier League:
#Wolves now very close to signing Barcelona defender Nèlson Semedo for £29m. Semedo, 26, expected to sign later in the week. Right wing-back was a priority for Nuno after the sale of Matt Doherty #wwfc

Semedo out, Dest in?
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is another to have confirmed the news of Semedo’s upcoming Molineux switch, with the stopper set to put pen-to-paper on a contract through to 2025.
Interestingly, though, Romano has also provided an insight into Barcelona’s target to replace their outgoing full-back.
The player in question is Sergino Dest of Ajax, who is also thought to be of keen interest to Bayern Munich:
Nelson #Semedo to Wolves is ‘here we go’ and confirmed. The deal is done and will be signed on next few hours also with Barcelona. Personal terms agreed with Mendes until 2025. Medicals on next week. 👌🏻🐺 #Wolves
…now it’s time for Dest [but Bayern are confident to sign him].
