The rumblings of controversy continue at Barcelona. In the latest episode, according to Dario Sport, the players will be writing to club President Josep Maria Bartomeu to discuss the impending pay cut which is to be imposed upon them.

Whilst on international duty, the players were informed via email they would be required to take percentage wage cut.

The Blaugrana players were not happy that this was not done in person and are seeking further answers. Supposedly just a single player would represent the group in 15 days time when the negotiation over the cut are meant to take place.

With Barcelona spending a huge amount of money in recent seasons, it is unsurprising to see a level of resistance from the playing staff. Massive fees have been spent on Philippe Coutinho, Frenkie de Jong, Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann.

With 20,687 votes now counted and ratified, it appears merely a matter of time until big movement begins a the top of the Barcelona tree.

It has now also been revealed that the date has been set for the vote to be brought forward.

With just 16,250 votes needed to take the motion forward, it has been comprehensively publicised the unrest at the club. Another trophyless season in 2019/20 and Barcelona have looked devoid of the quality they once showed. The dominance over the Spanish and European scene and far gone.

Messi’s unrest has also added to the pressure amounting on the board. It seems unlikely the Argentine will continue with the club beyond this season. In addition, with several other key squad members ageing, clear direction from the top will be imperative to take the Blaugrana into this new decade.
