Laporte, Sergi Roberto swap situation
The relationship between Barcelona and Manchester City is well known with of course former head coach Pep Guardiola now situated in the North West of England.
Despite the Spanish coach having many links to the hugely successful period with the Blaugrana, he has not taken any of his former Catalan talents to Manchester. When he left Barcelona and joined Bayern Munich a year later, he brought with him Thiago Alcantara who remained at the Allianz well beyond Guardiola’s departure.
Guardiola acquired a number of La Liga imports such as Ferran Torres, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri, Pedro Porro, Danilo and Claudio Bravo. The latter of which coming from Barca.
It seems now though the two clubs are in open discussion around a number of each other’s players. Spanish outlet Sport’s Toni Juanmarti reports that Sergi Roberto is on the radar of Guardiola.
Los contactos entre Barça y Manchester City son intensos en los últimos días. NO solo ha habido conversaciones por Sergi Roberto y Laporte, sino también por otros jugadores. Hoy, más interés del FCB en jugadores del City que viceversa #fcblive

In the other direction Laporte supposedly interests Barca. The now Spain international struggled to earn regular minutes with John Stones partnering Ruben Dias.
With Gerard Pique coming towards the end of his time in Catalonia, Laporte would be a ready made replacement.
Sergi Roberto however is a strange option for City. They have Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo who can play right-back. In midfield, with Fernandinho leaving, Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri are the only obvious options and Roberto can play as a central midfielder. Maybe Guardiola sees something in the now 29-year-old.
Were the two clubs to come to an agreement, it is likely that Barcelona would have to stump up a significant amount of money in addition to Roberto to land Laporte due to the difference in value.
Laporte’s view on future
Speaking in May, Laporte reiterated his happiness at City despite his challenge to earn minutes.
“At the moment I’m here, I’ll play today, we’ll see what happens,” he said. “I’m happy at City, I always thought I’d spend many years here. I hope that will happen. I will see what happens between now and the end of the season but for now I’m happy.”
He said it is the least he has played in his whole career and that it is ‘difficult to accept.’
“It’s a very different challenge because I never played less than this year. For me it’s very different, that is difficult to accept.”
Despite not finding it easy, he still said that he was happy for Stones to be having so much success.
“It’s good. He was not playing during the last two years but he’s come back now. I’m happy for him to enjoy his football. I didn’t get benefits because I played less, but it’s good,” he said.
Could he be tempted with more minutes playing back in La Liga?
