‘Bale is back’: Tottenham fans react to Welshman’s starring display vs Burnley

Tottenham vs Burnley

Tottenham played host to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs, apart from a couple of wins against Wolfsberg in Europe, headed into the tie in pretty dire form.

In their last six league outings before Sunday, for example, Jose Mourinho’s side had notched just one win, which only came against a very poor West Brom side.

Burnley, on the other hand, had actually not lost in their last four, though three of those games did end as draws.

So, though Spurs should have been viewed as favourites, their fans were no doubt slightly concerned about suffering another embarrassing league defeat.

However, that is far from what played out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It took Gareth Bale less than two minutes to open the scoring against the Clarets.

The Welshman then set up Harry Kane 15 minutes in to double the north Londoners’ advantage:

And just after the half-hour-mark, Jose Mourinho’s men killed the game off when Harry Kane nodded Sergio Reguilon’s cross into the path of Lucas Moura who made it 3-0.

The Lilywhites were not done there, though adding a 4th in the second 45 with Bale once again involved, bending a sumptuous effort past Nick Pope who could do nothing but watch the ball glide past him.

Bale is back?

Following Spurs’ victory over Sean Dyche and co., much of the chatter has, unsurprisingly, surrounded Gareth Bale.

The Welshman’s return to north London had been pretty underwhelming to date.

However, recent games have seen Bale improve a great deal, providing goals and assists in all of Spurs’ last three matches before Sunday.

And against Burnley, Bale, who scored the opener, the 4th and set up the 2nd, would surpass his goal and assist tally from his previous eight league appearances this season.

This has since promoted the Spurs faithful to take to social media and praise the Real Madrid man:
