At least 10 clubs have reportedly held discussions with Man United-linked David Carmo’s representatives

Man United eyeing David Carmo

It was reported last month that signing a central-defender is now viewed as the priority at Manchester United for the 2021 summer transfer window.

The same report also named RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano as a possible target.

Since, though, another stopper has been linked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in recent days.

Said player is Portuguese outfit Braga’s David Carmo.

The 21-year-old has limited first-team experience to his name, having notched just 27 appearances for Braga’s senior side thus far.

However, he is a left-footed centre back, an area in which the Red Devils could really do with fresh blood.

The above-linked report didn’t mention a potential transfer fee.

But, considering Carmo’s age, and the fact that he is contracted to Braga until 2025, the Portuguese is unlikely to be available on the cheap.

David Carmo a man in demand

As well as a potentially hefty fee, though, Man United may also face a fair bit of competition from the young stopper’s signature.

As per a report from the Athletic’s David Ornstein on Monday, Manchester United have been linked with Carmo of late.

However, United, or any other potential suitors, are likely to face stiff competition for his signature.

This comes with Ornstein claiming that at least 10 different clubs have held discussions with the Carmo’s representatives.

One of those ten clubs is also believed to be one of the Red Devils’ ‘big six’ rivals, though no actual team is named:
