Aston Villa miss out on Wilson
Last week saw interest in Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson grow significantly.
The two parties seemingly vying it out for the hitman were Premier League outfits Aston Villa and Newcastle.
It was even claimed last Tuesday that Villa and the Magpies were in talks with the Cherries over Wilson:

However, Dean Smith and co. have since missed out on the Englishman, with Newcastle announcing Wilson’s signing on Monday:

Villa eyeing King & Watkins
With the need for attacking reinforcements at Villa Park very clear, it seems Dean Smith’s side have wasted little time in moving on to some new targets.
One of Villa’s new transfer target looks to come in the former of Joshua King, Wilson’s former teammate at Bournemouth.
The versatile Norwegian, like the rest of Bournemouth’s squad, didn’t have a great 2019/20.
But he still managed to score six and assist four in 26 league ties and would no doubt help improve Villa’s limp attack.
And now, on Tuesday, the Telegraph are reporting that Aston Villa are ‘making’ a £16m bid for King.
King is understood to be available for around that price as he is now in the final year of his contract.
Brentford’s Ollie Watkins is also believed to be a priority target for Villa, who are understood to want to sign to forwards in this window.
And as reported elsewhere, a deal for the Brentford hitman is now close.
Villa will pay an initial £28m for Watkins, though that sum could rise to £33m eventually:
