Arsenal vs Liverpool
Premier League football is set to return to our screens in the coming weeks after a very brief hiatus.
Despite what looks set to be a very hectic season for a lot of sides though, the FA have decided to persist with the traditional curtain-raiser of the Premier League campaign.
That is, of course, the Community Shield clash, which is set to take place this coming Saturday.
This campaign’s curtain-raiser will see Liverpool and Arsenal face off.
Both outfits have won the trophy a staggering 15 times with the Gunners last doing so in 2017.
Liverpool, however, haven’t clinched the award since 2006, though you would imagine they stand a great chance of doing so this week giving they won the Premier League with a staggering 99 points and Arsenal finished the season 8th.

Martinez a doubt for Saturday
Arsenal could also be without one of their end of season stars for the Wembley clash.
The player in question is Emiliano Martinez, who put in some superb displays post-restart after Bernd Leno suffered an injury vs Brighton, which ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Now though, according to the Evening Standard:
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is a doubt for Saturday’s Community Shield clash with Liverpool after having to quarantine before starting pre-season.
The Argentine is understood to have travelled to Portugal at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Government guidelines at the time meant he had to self-isolate for two weeks upon his return.
Said period has now finished, but he is a doubt for the Liverpool game due to the fact he has not been back in training long.
Aubameyang contract update
On a slightly more positive note, Mikel Arteta has moved to provide an update on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract.
The hitman is, of course, Arsenal’s star man but is now in the final year of his deal.
And though negotiations appear to have been going on for some time now, Arteta looks to be confident of a deal eventually being completed.
Speaking in his pre-Liverpool press conference, the Spaniard stated:
“I keep being positive, we have some really good talks with him and his agent. I am pretty confident we’re going to find an agreement soon. That’s my feeling again.”
