Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta expecting Kieran Tierney to be out for rest of season

Arsenal see off Sheffield United

Arsenal faced off with Sheffield United a short time ago.

The Gunners headed into the tie with little to play for in the league, with a European finish looking very unlikely at this stage in the campaign.

Despite this, Arsenal still gave it there all on Sunday and were able to come away with a fairly comfortable win.

Alexandre Lacazette found the net twice against the Blades whilst Gabriel Martinelli bagged his first goal of the campaign.

Tierney expected to be out for remainder of the season

An otherwise positive evening for the north Londoners was marred somewhat due to some injury issues.

Bukayo Saka would limp out of Sunday’s game with what looked to be a thigh issue. Gabriel Martinelli also picked up a knock in the tie and was eventually taken off.

Following the game, Arteta didn’t clear up much when it came to Saka’s injury:

The Spaniard seemed slightly more upbeat when discussing the Brazilian’s issue:

“He was pretty sore but he’s a tough boy.”

However, Arteta then claimed that Kieran Tierney, who picked up an injury last weekend vs Liverpool, is now probably out for the season:

“Kieran is out, probably for the season.”
