Hakimi & Inter Milan
Achraf Hakimi joined Inter Milan in September of 2020.
The full-back had previously been impressing on loan with Borussia Dortmund. But instead of returning to parent club Real Madrid, or signing for BVB permanently, Hakimi was sold to Inter for around £36m.
Hakimi has, of course, endured a sensational debut campaign at the San Siro to date.
Antonio Conte’s Inter are flying high in the Serie A and are well on course to end Juventus’ dominance over the Italian top-flight.
As for Hakimi, he has already managed to chip in with six goals and five assists in just 25 league outings so far this campaign.
Hakimi attracting Premier League interest
However, whilst things are going swimmingly on the pitch, things higher up appear to be of great concern to all involved with Inter.
Inter’s owners, Jiangsu Suning, are having some financial troubles at present, which recently caused them to cease operations at another of their clubs – Jiangsu FC.
It also recently caused them to miss a payment to Real Madrid for Hakimi. With Inter now also believed to owe Manchester United money as well for Romelu Lukaku, a situation which can be explained more here.
So, though Inter may not want to part with Hakimi, their hand may be somewhat forced in the future due to the financial issues facing their owners.
And, according to the Telegraph, two Premier League sides are showing an interest in the wing-back.
They write that both Arsenal and Chelsea are in the race to land Hakimi this summer following ‘turmoil’ at Inter.
