Fati out
Ansu Fati has become one of the brightest stars of European football, having only just turned 18-years-old he is already a regular senior starter for Barcelona and Spain. However, in the weekend match against Real Betis, Fati was taken off after suffering an injury to his knee.
It has now been confirmed that the Spaniard has torn a ligament in his knee which will likely require surgery to fix.
“The tests carried out this afternoon have shown that the player has a torn medial meniscus in his left knee. In the next few days the treatment to follow will be determined, ” the statement from Barcelona read.
“He had discomfort and we did not want to risk,” justified the Barcelona coach . Then the results of the first tests were known and it was confirmed that Ansu will be out for a while.”

With Barcelona having one of their worst starts to a league campaign, Koeman will hope whoever he selects to replace Fati can make the key difference for the Blaugrana.
Barcelona selection
With Fati out, the opportunity as to who replaces the 18-year-old is difficult. Ronald Koeman has a plethora of talent available. Lionel Messi replaced the injured Fati having been put on the bench for the arrival of Real Betis.
It is likely that Messi will not be afforded the rest in future with the injury to Fati. Phillipe Coutinho returned from a Bayern Munich loan move in good form however has not featured in the last four matches due to a hamstring injury.
17-year-old Pedri came on to score his first La Liga goal of the season having signed from Las Palmas in the summer. Antoine Griezmann scored his second league goal of the campaign but has still looked a shadow of the player Barca signed from Atletico Madrid. Made worse by the strong form of Luis Suarez at the Rojiblancos.

It is likely, when all fit, Ousmane Dembele will feature alongside, Messi, Griezmann and Coutinho. However, Pedri and further young talent Trincao and De la Fuente could also get additional game time.
