As confirmed online this afternoon, Alisson Becker has been ruled out of Liverpool’s clash with Aston Villa, after picking up an injury in training.
Mane & Thiago out
Jurgen Klopp’s men are set to return to Premier League action later today, in a trip to Villa Park.
The Reds will head into proceedings having gotten the defence of their title off to the perfect start, with 3 wins from 3 outings thus far.
Nevertheless, it is Merseyside rivals Everton who currently occupy top spot in the English top-flight, after continuing their stellar early-season form with a 4-2 downing of Brighton on Saturday.
As such, Liverpool will no doubt be desperate to secure all 3 points this this evening, to keep pace with Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

In their efforts do so, however, the champions will be forced to make do without a number of key players.
As confirmed in a pair of separate statements over the course of the week, Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane have tested positive for Covid-19.
Both the Reds summer addition and star wide-man are therefore set to miss out versus Villa, whilst in self-isolation.
Sadio Mane has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.

Reds woes mount
And, as outlined above, in a further blow to Liverpool’s prospects, yet another member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad has been ruled out of proceedings on Sunday evening.
The player in question? Alisson Becker.
As per the reliable James Pearce of The Athletic, shot-stopper Alisson picked up a fitness issue in training, and will therefore not be fit to feature in Aston:
Bit of early team news in the pre-game discussion chat. No Alisson Becker for #LFC at Villa Park today after picking up an injury in training. Adrian set to deputise. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit to play. https://t.co/4ML15UDHLB
