101’s Top 5 Goals of the Week, including Gabriel Jesus’ effort vs Liverpool

The week of November 2nd-8th once again saw some truly spectacular goals scored around Europe.

Here at 101, we are dedicated to showing you only the best of the best and have managed to whittle down all the superb strikes netted over the last week to a list of five.

Let us know who you think scored the best goal of the week on Twitter and Facebook.

5: Angel Di Maria for PSG vs Rennes

PSG played host to Rennes on Saturday evening as they looked to put some daylight between themselves and the rest of the title-chasing pack.

Rennes began the day in 3rd-spot, knowing a win at the Parc des Princes would see them draw level on points with the Parisian outfit.

However, despite these two heavyweights playing out some close clashes in recent times, it would be Thomas Tuchel’s men who completely dominated their latest meeting.

The in-form Moise Keane fired the hosts into the lead 11 minutes in. But it would be PSG’s second of the day which caught the eye.

Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera played a defence-splitting pass to Angel Di Maria with 21 minutes on the clock.

The Argentine, in his usually calm fashion, controlled with his strong foot before dinking the keeper with a lovely chip:

4: Boulaye Dia for Stade Reims vs Lens

Our next goal of the week once again takes us to France.

Stade Reims travelled to Lens on Sunday as they went in search of a much-needed three points to move them away from the relegation scrap.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of an in-form Boulaye Dia, the away side eventually had to settle for a point in what was an extremely entertaining affair.

Reims even took a two-goal lead in the tie with less than 10 minutes of normal time remaining thanks to a sensational strike from the aforementioned Dia.

The Reims hitman, who now has eight goals in eight league outings this term, saw off three defenders before rounding the keeper and bagging his second of the day:

3: Angelino for RB Leipzig vs SC Freiburg

With Bayern Munich once again firing on all cylinders, RB Leipzig knew they had to pick up three points this past weekend to ensure they maintained a strong title challenge.

And when 90 minutes were said and done, Julian Nagelsmann’s side had achieved that in style.

Strikes from Ibrahima Konate and Marcel Sabitzersaw Leipzig 2-0 up with 20 minutes to play.

But it would be Angelino’s late effort which ensured the three points were Leipzig’s.

The Spaniard bent a sensational free-kick into the top of Florian Muller’s net, who could do nothing more than watch the ball glide past him:

2: Gabriel Jesus for Manchester City vs Liverpool

The weekend’s marquee Premier League tie, of course, saw Manchester City and Liverpool go head-to-head.

When 90 minutes were said and done, the two heavyweights of the English game shared the spoils.

Before that though, at least in the first 45, we were treated to some spectacular football.

And it would be Gabriel Jesus’s effort which was arguably the moment of the tie.

The Brazilian’s touch after receiving the ball to turn Trent Alexander-Arnold was obviously great.

But what made the strike even more superb was the fact that there were 19 passes played in the build-up to Jesus’s goal with 10 of City’s 11 players involved:

1: Valentino Lazaro for Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen

Our winner this time around not only deserves to be no.1 this week, but his effort could well be 2020/21’s goal of the season.

Borussia Monchengladbach faced off with Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday as they looked to continue their decent run of form.

And though they eventually fell to a 4-3 defeat, one Gladbach player will no doubt be slightly pleased with his recent efforts.

The dying moments of the tie at the BayArena saw Patrick Herrmann whip a lovely ball into the Leverkusen box.

Said cross was met by fellow substitute Valentino Lazaro who, rather than attempting a header or volley, opted to execute a scorpion kick which lopped over Lukas Hradecky:
